Not sure if this will help, but what about this play a wrote (well, writing)? It's about these kids who survive the harsh ways of the wild, because they have no home. They spend day and night searching for their missing parents, who despite what the others say, know they are alive.
ACT ONE (setting: A group of kids in the woods (by a pond), searching for food, shelter, etc.) (Charecters: Mel, a very fiesty tomboy who is the brains of the group (Age ten). Kristina, a girl addicted to fairy tales, romance, and happy endings (age twelve). Charlie, a smarty-pants school-wise, but not so much in other areas (age fourteen) Rosalind, a enterainer who envies Mel (age eight).
Mel: (in the lead of her siblings) C'mon. We can't take all day. Charlie, stop reciting the times table. You're so nerdy! Kristina, need a hand climbing up that rock? No? okey dokey then. Charlie: Math isn't half as bad as you think it is. (Kristina, who's in back, asks the group can take a break) Mel: Ugh. Kristina, yes, we'll stop soon. Rosalind: Yeah, we will stop soon. Mel: You're such a pest, Rosie! Rosalind: I hate that nickname! Mel: *tounge out* Hi ROSIE! Rosalind: *SIGHING* (she silently calls Mel by her real name, Melanie, but Mel doesn't seem to hear) (The group is silent for a few minutes, until Mel slows down) Mel: STOP! Kristina: You're a pest, Mel, you know. You are not the leader or anything. Charlie: Well, yes. Mel is unfair to us because she thinks she is the leader of all of us, though in reality, she's NOT! Mel: Hey, then Charlie, you try leading us to our parents. I bet you'll kill us right away. And Kristina, if you were to lead you would just be talking about how dreamy some prettyboy in some book. And Rosalind would be too young and immature. Therefore (I seriously have to stop talking like Charlie), I lead you. Rosalind: I am not young and immature, don't you agree guys? I'm a nice person to tell stories by the fire, too. Kristina and Charlie: YES! Kristina: And I'm not all that romantic. I do real stuff too. Mel: Uh....she's defaintly not the leader type. But I am! Kristina: A real leader isn't so selfish! Rosalind: Yes, now let's make camp for the night....without MELANIE. Charlie and Kristina: Yeah! (the "mature" Mel HPMH's! and slowly walks away from her siblings)
ACT TWO Setting: Kristna, and Charlie are sitting in front of a fire. Rosalind is sleeping using her backpack with holds all her supplies as a pillow. Mel is out of sight in her own "camp" and the two elder siblings are the only ones that seem to be awake in the whole forest. Kristina: You know how we left our foster home a month ago? Charlie: Yes, I know it well. Kristina: Well, I'm feeling homesick from it. I know it's dark, wearing, and lonely, but it was our only place to go. Charlie: But, aren't you glad we're finding our parents, who ARE alive? Kristina: What's our "amazing" proof? Charlie: I have something. Don't show the others, but it makes me feel sure Mom and Dad are alive and okay out there. (slowly hands Kristina a journal). I found at the beach we stopped at. Kristina: (studying the pages) Wow, it's like in those books....when in the mist of despair a young girl gets hope for a better life, a better place to grow and live in, and simply something good for once. Charlie: Exactly, just like those books. Rosalind: (suddenly waking up) Can you read me a bit of it? Kristina: Rosalind, you're soupossed to be sleeping by now! Were you listening the whole time or something? Rosalind: Yeah, I was. Kristina: Oh. Well, I guess I could read just a bit. Rosalind: Do it! Kristina: (clearing voice)
The night when Charles and I were camping without the kids, when we got lost without hope, when for five bitter months we battled for survival, when we came home to find that we were forgotten and thought dead, I had this hope that our children were safe in a home....somewhere. I soon found out that my dears had retreated to a home on the other side of town, but when I got there, the woman sighed and said "They're gone, missing, probaly kindnapped and dead. Have been for a week. I called the police, and the boys are still looking without much luck. We'll contact you if we have any updates." My husband and I sat sat crying nonstop for what seemed like hours. I am heartbroken. Charles, Melanie, Kristina, and Rosalind are probaly dying right this moment, without love, food, or good shelter. I pray every second that my children are SAFE somewhere. Only God knows any sort of information at all about their condition. I hardly brought myself to write this, because of my worry. I'm off to Ohio to tell my parents of the news. I can hardly hold myself together.
Rosalind: Gosh, Mom's upset. As the ducks on We Are Ducks would say, "That's quacker sad!" Kristina: You still watch We Are Ducks? Wow, that's meant for toddlers. Anyway, Rosalind, this is no time for fooling around, Mom seriously misses us. Charlie: Yes, correct. Your mother is really worried. And did you see? Mom says she's off to Grandma's house! We have found our information....Mom's there....in Ohio..... Kristina: Yeah, I did. But how the heck will we get to Grandma's? Unless a unicorn comes to carry us off, we're hopeless. Charlie: Yes, you have a point. And how do you know Mom didn't have a plane crash on the trip? Or if Dad suddenly went fatally ill and Mom had to stay? Mysteries are to be solved in this case. Kristina: Yeah, and between all of us we'll probaly die sooner or later out here. Rosalind: We have tons of money and town's not far away! Kristina: Rosalind, sorry to break it to you, money's going to go tight, and natural disasters can happen without warning, and it's dangerous out in the world, you know? It's not Fairy Land in real life. Charlie: (crying a bit) Suddenly we don't have much hope. Besides, with Mel around, we won't go far. Kristina: Yeah. Rosalind: *sobbing*
TO BE CONTINUED..... (i'll add more later)

That sounds like an interesting play. How could we do this, with all the dolls living apart? We could have each doll be a character, and if they live at the same house, they can interact. We could put pictures up of the play, too!

I think this is nice, but the characters seem like they have mixed personalities. Kristina and Rosalind both are fine, but I find it kind of queer how Mel is both a tomboy and the brains if the group. Also, then, that leaves Charlie with less personality, and I think maybe if she was a "smarter" person, it would work. Or maybe, you could just have her be more serious and responsible, as she's the oldest of the group.
